How to find an OS Grid Reference

The ideal way of specifying a vehicle's postion is using a 6-figure Ordnance Survery grid reference. This can be obtained from an OS map or by using the on-line OS Get-A-Map service (see opposite for instructions on how to use this facility).

We require grid references to include the Grid Square Identification which is a 2 character prefix to the 6 figure grid reference. This is shown in the OS map key section, sometimes an OS map spans more than one grid square. If you can't find the grid square id then please enter XX, this will allow the form to be submitted.

If you cannot obtain any grid reference information then please describe the location as fully as possible in the Additional Location Details section.

Once we receive information we will email you back to confirm the vehicle details and then start the recovery process.

OS Get-A-Map:

This service can be used to zoom in to a particular location anywhere in the UK and return a 6 figure grid reference.

Click on the link below to launch the Get-A-Map web page, type in a location in the top left hand corner and then click the map to zoom in to the desired location.

At maximum zoom click the precise location to centre the map, then read the grid reference that is displayed under the map.
